Children and Adolescents

Creative play based therapy for younger children and talk therapy for teenagers to assist in managing a range of issues impacting on schooling or home life.

Counselling for children aged 4 years and older is provided in a safe and non-threatening environment.  A play-based approach for younger children allows children to explore and process difficult and challenging life experiences in a safe way.

The transition from childhood to adulthood can be challenging for many adolescents.  For older children and adolescents, therapy is based on the young person's individual needs.  This may involve talk therapy or a combination of talk therapy with other creative tools such as art or games.

Some of the issues children and adolescents may be struggling with include:

  • Traumatic or distressing events

  • Anxiety

  • Family separations or having difficulty adjusting to these changes

  • School avoidance

  • Phobias

  • Substance misuse in the home eg parents who have been or are dependent on drugs or alcohol.

For children and adolescents who have experienced distressing or traumatic events, we also provide EMDR therapy for children and adolescents.
